Full Moon Paddling

One major advantage to being this far north is the wonderfully long summer days! You can enjoy the evening sun for hours and the twilight all night long! Why not combine the long days with a full moon paddle? Starting from the beach at Hutch Lake, rent a canoe or kayak and paddle into the wee hours. After you come off the water, we’ll have warm beverages around a campfire (barring any fire bans). By reservation only, $25/person for the following dates*:

Thursday, May 27, 2010
Saturday, June 26, 2010
Sunday, July 25, 2010
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
Thursday, September 23, 2010

*All dates are dependent on the weather. If the weather is bad, we will try again the following night (ex. if May 27 is rainy, we’ll try again for the 28th.) If paddling is cancelled due to weather, full refunds will be given. We may change the location to Footner Lake based on the wind. Hutch lake can build up some pretty unpleasant waves! That’s why we have you pre-register — so we can notify you of any changes due to weather.

Try a Kayak Day

Ever want to try a kayak but never had the chance? Come to one of our “try a kayak” days! We’ll head out to the Footner Lake dock and have the boats and safety equipment there, ready for you to try. We won’t do anything crazy – no eskimo rolls! – just give you a chance to have a little paddle around the lake. Kids are welcome to come too — we have a double kayak and you can put your child in the front and we’ll take them out for a short paddle, or, if you feel comfortable, you can take them. It’s completely free — just come out to the lake between noon and 7 pm (we may even stay later).

We hosted “try a kayak day” on June 5th, and July 21st. We haven’t picked a date yet in August, so please contact us if you have any questions or would like to try a kayak on a date of your choosing.

Trips for Women

We have a special “paddle buddy” service for single or small groups of women. Check this page for the details!
